On December 8-10, 2018, the 5th China International Aggregate Conference with the theme of "Green Development, Build A Future Together" was grandly opened in Shanghai. Many people attended the conference: Leaders of relevant government departments of the state and various provinces and municipalities; representatives of enterprises of aggregate production, equipment manufacturing, solid waste resource utilization, abandoned mine ecological restoration, large-scale key project construction; Experts and scholars of related institutes, universities, quality inspection and testing institutions; domain experts of agriculture, environmental protection, planning, standards, exploration, exploration; representatives of EU, USA, Germany, Australia, Canada and other ASEAN related associations; representatives of "One Belt One Road" countries.
At the opening ceremony of the conference, Mr. Ju Jianhua, the Director of Mineral Resources Protection and Supervision Department of Natural Resources Ministry, suggested three points for the development of the aggregate industry: First, strengthen scientific planning, clarify the direction of industrial development and promote rational distribution. Second, accelerate green development and create a new paradigm for the high-quality development of the aggregate industry. Third, adhere to the innovation drive, and inject momentum into the high-quality development of the aggregate industry.
In the keynote speech, Mr. Hu Youyi, president of the China Aggregate Association, gave a report "The Aggregate Industry Enters a New Era – Integrated Development and Building A Future Together". President Hu pointed out that under the background of vigorously promoting infrastructure construction and ecological civilization construction, promoting supply-side structural reform, and eliminating backward production capacity, China's aggregate industry is experiencing the closure of traditional backward aggregate enterprises, integrating the stone resources, re-planing and deploying a new large-scale green aggregate production line, and making a big change towards modernization.
At this conference, Mr. Heiko Boes, CEO of QGM & ZENITH Group made a keynote report on "Sponge City in China: Challenges and Opportunities in Comprehensive Utilization of Solid Waste", which comprehensively explained the current situation of domestic sponge city construction. And introduced the comprehensive utilization technology of QGM solid waste to the participants. The technology can not only use construction waste, industrial slag and other solid waste as raw materials to produce block building materials, but also can further increase the added value of products with secondary processing technology, and make sponge city permeable bricks, thermal insulation bricks, colorful bricks, Imitation antique bricks, Imitation stone bricks and so on. Heiko's report coincided with the theme of “Green Development” of the conference, which aroused enthusiastic response from the participants. Many people came to the booth of QGM for further understanding and exchange.
In addition, Mr. Jim O’Brien (the honorary chairman of the European Union Aggregate Association, academician of the Irish Institute of Engineering), Mr. Liang Wenquanan ( a professor at Wuhan University), Xu Ningning (the executive director of the China-ASEAN Business Council), and other experts respectively gave relevant reports on their respective fields and won warm applause.
