In 2015, the Egyptian government announced that in order to alleviate the growing population pressure in Cairo, it planned to build a new administrative, financial, industrial and commercial capital covering an area of 750 square kilometers in the desert 45 kilometers east of the capital Cairo. The new capital is located between Cairo and the city of Suez on the coast of the Red Sea. It is one of the key projects being implemented by the Egyptian government.
In 2016, China State Construction and the Egyptian Ministry of Housing, Public Works and Urbanization signed a cooperation agreement and formally acted as the contractor of the new capital's central business district project. It is reported that the project has a total construction area of about 1.7 million square meters, including 20 towers, of which a 385-meter super high-rise building will be built, and it will become the tallest building in Africa in the future.
As the project needs to apply a large number of cement block products during the construction process, China State Construction selected the top equipment of Quangong Co., Ltd.-the German-origin Zenit 1500 production line after many researches.
At present, the project is in progress. On February 26, 2019, after 38 hours of continuous operation, a one-time 18.5 thousand square meter concrete foundation raft pouring of the landmark tower was completed, which refreshed the history of construction in the Middle East and Africa. The fastest record of the foundation raft, and the overall speed of the project construction.
